On Thursday, May 25th, firefighters from Elma Volunteer Fire Company and Jamison Road Volunteer Fire Company met at a training house owned by Twin District Volunteer Fire Company in Lancaster.  Together, they practiced their skills in ladder operations, using thermal imaging cameras, and  search and rescue techniques.  Although situations where these skills are needed don’t arise often, it is important to refresh them as well as teach them to new firefighters.  Simulated training is a good way for rookie firefighters to begin to learn about interior firefighting.

Further, a highlighted aspect of the training is that the two fire companies were able to practice working together. “Our districts are right next to each other, so we are often providing mutual aid to one another, ” said Assistant Chief Dan Wilson at the drill.

Overall, the night produced an excellent training exercise, not only in firematics but also in camaraderie.
